The Geezers are old, but they were "No Fools" for the Cleveland Indians on Opening Day on April 1, April Fools Day 2011. Even though it wasn't a bad weather day, we were smart enough not to drive all the way up to Cleveland to watch the game on TV when we could do that here in Akron, OH. It seemed that for one reason or another most the Geezers could not devote a whole day in Cleveland. So we did the next best thing, and went to Johnny Malloy's Sports Pub behind Chapel Hill Mall.
The Geezers who were actually there were J.Bo, Drumstir, Spike, Billy Bob, and R. B. Billy Bob was not making a day of it as he was leaving for Chicago on Saturday morning. And R. B. deserves a medal after showing up following work, and an emergency dental appointment at 7:30 that morning.
Malloy's had a food special of $1 Hot Dogs, and their Fish Specials for Lent. And let me tell you that the hot dogs were LARGE! Spike and I made the mistake of getting two each. I didn't happen to take a picture of them, but I will include a photo that I found on the Internet in the Photo Gallery below that will give you the general idea of their size.
The drink Specials were 23 oz domestic draft beer for $2.50, and something called "little beers" for the same price. Spike tried one of them, and he said that they taste like a vanilla milkshake. They are made in a shot glass, and consist of a liquor with cream floated on the top.
We did see a couple of look-a-likes even though this wasn't an official Geezers Nite out. One was of the celebrity type. He resembled Chris Farley when he acted int eh movie Tommy Boy. The other one was of one of our fellow Geezer's Mr. Lobber. but it couldn't have been him.....could it? He was in Athens, Ohio! Sorry, we didn't get any pics.
Our bartenders for the day were many. When I first got there Megan was the only one. Later on in the day as the Indians game progressed there were more bartenders along with more customers. Among the bartenders were Darlene, Lisa, and Stacy, who we haven't seen for awhile since she recently had a baby boy who she named Stephen. Congrats to Stacy, and the father.
Below in the Photo Gallery are the few the pics that I took at Malloy's, from the Internet, and off of the TV.
