GEEZERS NITE OUT ~ Newsletter
We have one Newsletter for each Month of the Year. Page down to see all the news letters for that particular month.
Our first Geezers Nite Out in December was held at Johnny Malloy's behind Chapel Hill Mall on 12/02, but you wouldn't know it. So far we have been having a mild winter. Or is this still fall? I looked it up! The first day of winter this year for the northern hemisphere is DEC 21. For the southern hemisphere it is June 22. So you could tell someone that the first day of winter is June 22, and maybe win a bet.
The Geezers who were at Malloy's were Joebo, Fergie, Dougie, Swish, Bubba, and Garo. Also Krisko joined us for a short time on her way home from work..
Our bartenders for most of the evening were Danielle, and Kim, pictured.
Malloy's no longer has a complimentary food bar during Happy Hour. That is one thing that we are not happy about. I guess that we are spoiled. Anyway most of us ordered from the menu. If we had to, we had to! Swish, Bubba, and Garo shared a Geppetto's pizza and wings. They do have a really good deal with a medium pizza and 10 wings for $10. Fergie had a burger. I had a chef salad, and Dougie had a "Tiger Woods". (It is called a Black & Blue Burger)
Dougie thought that our own bartender, Kim, above was a Celebrity Look-A-Like. With her glasses he thought she resembled that formidable former VP nominee Sarah Palin. Kim didn't think so when she saw the picture. What do you think?
Next Wednesday, DEC 9, we will be a Legends Sports Pub in Green again. On Wednesday, DEC 16, we will be going to a new place as a group. We will be meeting at North Side Grill downtown on N. Main St next to Luigi's Italian Restaurant. I understand that North Side is under new management. Hope to see you at Legends.

NOT A "LUCKY" NIGHT AT LEGENDS
Another Wednesday Geezers Nite Out at Legends Sports Pub & Grille in Green, DEC 9, and another loss for the Cavs. One would suspect that the Geezers were the culprit. Not so! It seems that the night bartender, Tricia, had something to do with it. Back on Nov 18, the Geezers were at Legends for their weekly Nite Out, and the Cavs were also playing. And they lost. More of a case against the Geezers? Not quite! It seems that Tricia on the nights that the Cavs play wears a basketball jersey with the Cavs name emblazoned on it. On Nov 18th she said that every time she wears that jersey on that particular night they LOSE. So when we came in on DEC 9 she was wearing a Pink (Different) jersey. We asked her if it was her "Lucky" jersey this time. She laughed it off. Needless to say the Cavs lost AGAIN! You figure it out. However, she is one of our fave bartenders. No. 1?
The Geezers there that nite were Drumstir, Joebo, Nicko, Voigle, Garo, and Bubba. However, I guess we really are Geezers now because there were a few of us who "called-off"! Dougie had the Flu. Hopefully NOT the Swine Flu (H1N1). And also Swish called off. He had been running errands all day and he was "beat"! Then there was Fergie who had some minor surgery (Yearly Maintenance), and he was not permitted to drink any alcohol, and he also may have been little sore. Yep, we are now officially "Old" Geezers.
Most of us ate from Legends' excellent menu except for Voigle who partook of the "freebies". I had an excellent "chef" salad. Drumstir had a veal parmesan sandwich which he wasn't to happy with because of the spaghetti sauce. Nicko had the Italian grinder. Garo tried the little-bitty burgers, and Bubba chewed on his proverbial "hot wings". That may not be correct, but it's good print.
We also have a couple of new nicknames for some of our crew, and there was some name-calling going on. Lets' just say that the names "Baldo", and "Big Bird" were being bandied about. We'll just leave it at that. If you know the guys, you figure it out.
Next Wednesday, DEC 16 we are scheduled to try North Side Grill downtown for the first time as a group. However, we found out at Legends that their yearly Christmas Party is that week. So we may change it, and go back to Legends again on the 16th. Keep checking the SCHEDULE to see what we have decided to do.
The Geezers went back to Legends Sports Pub in Green for their Nite Out on DEC 16 for the annual Christmas Party.
As part of the festivities Legends had Free appetizers, which consisted of Rigatoni, Meat-a-balls, and bread with a Spinach Dip. A very festive offering. (Red & Green food items) They also had other food specials, and some drink specials. The drinks being offered were Margaritas, and Long Island Iced Tea for $3 a pop.
Tricia, pictured, was our bartender, and as you can see she was dressed for the occasion. Check the Photo Gallery below for more pics. Also, go to Tricia's page for our Bartender of The Month for DEC 2005, and see if that hat doesn't look familiar. I'm just sayin'!
We had a pretty good turnout of Geezers which included Dougie, Swish, Joebo, Bubba, Drumstir, Garo, Nicko, and Voigle. Garo was late as usual, and no sooner did he sit down than he started bar-hopping! Living in Green he usually runs into someone that he knows. We now see how we rate. Not #1, that's for sure!
It was a good evening, and there was a pretty good crowd there during the Happy Hour. Next Wednesday, DEC 23, we will be at Dusty's Yacht Club for the big Christmas Picnic Party with The Phantom (Geezers) Band. There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, and potato salad provided. You are welcome to bring a covered dish or dessert if you so choose. Parking will be limited so come early. Dusty's will open at a Special Time (1:00 P. M.) that day to accommodate any Goodyear associates who are looking for a place to go after they are released from work that afternoon. The band will start as soon as there are enough people, and band members there. Hope to see you all there.
From all of The Geezers we want to wish everyone reading this a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!
MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM DUSTY'S!
The Geezers Nite Out on DEC 23 was held at Dusty's Landing on Portage Lakes. It was in conjunction with their annual Christmas Party. The Phantom (Geezers) Band was playing for the fourth time there since September. Karen, pictured to the left, is the entertainment planner at Dusty's, and she asked The Phantom Band to play, and she whipped up a huge roaster full of her fabulous Sloppy Joe's! She also had a large bowl of potato salad, and some people did bring covered dishes. Cool! Drumstir (Denny) provided some hot dogs that he got from his sister Patty from her niece's graduation party.
The Geezers there were Swish, Joebo, Garo, Dougie, Bubba, and Kenny J. Krisko, and Betty Boop also were there. We also had a lot of current and former Gootyear associates there. Larry Robert, Dick Laber, Bobby Tompkins, Russ Miller, and Flo Abbot, and friends. The day started out rather slowly, but as the evening progressed the crowd began to build. At one point in the evening there was hardly any room to move.
It was a great time, and the place was packed. We don't know how many people were not able to attend since they couldn't find parking spots. Dusty's is rather isolated from the regular Portage Lakes mainstream, but it is a unique place. I think that anyone who was there had a great time. And Karen , and all of her help made it enjoyable for everyone. Go to the MEDIA page for a couple of videos of the band and photos of the evening taken by our friend Bob Swisher. Wednesday, DEC 30 we will be at the Tap House on Waterloo Rd., formerly Scorchers. If we don't see ya have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
